Ogden Water was asked to assist one of the largest ready meal manufacturers in the UK.
With a history of consent failures with their discharges to the local water authority, our first priority was to meet consent.
We did this by starting with a comprehensive sampling and analysis exercise which resulted in significant changes to the way effluent was actually discharged from the factory, e.g. changes to the CIP procedures and cleaning methodology.
The second stage was the installation of a Dissolved Air Flotation plant.
This was provided on a capital free basis with an economic model involving sharing the savings generated from the MOGDEN formula.
Our solution showed the following results:
- Average untreated effluent 1000 TSS
- 3000 Settled COD
- Treated effluent < 200 TSS
- < 1000 Settled COD
- Annual savings > £200,000
The third stage is assessment for biological treatment and potential discharge to the local watercourse.
Potential annual savings > £360,000
